well, actually that is exactly what I'm suggesting : link

Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things, but they've certaily added a lot of what I assume are lower interest books in the last few years (has anyone ever bought any of the Combat series?)

Will it have any Santa vs. The Martians or Santa and an army of Yetis?

I hope there will be a section on the arms and armor variations of the sleigh over the years.

I suppose we can look forward to the companion books on the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy.

Oh goody! Now we can argue over Santa's 'uniform' as if it were something Napoleonic.

I'm just going to quietly step away from this one.

Actually, that could be a cool book. I'd like to take a closer look at what it covers before springing for it, but I think both of my parents would be interested and I would read it as well.

So I'm assessing this as one of the good kinds of crazy.

As for martians… link

I just pre-ordered it. I never do that. The Amazon page indicates it covers not just the full history but SC's different manifestations in different countries. If this is done in the Osprey style it will be totally worth reading.

As for Napoleonic arguments about the shade of red and width of the belt as of a particular year, I will merrily skim those threads.

If the late Angus MacBride had illustrated it, the reindeer would look crazed.

It had four buttons, I swear it!

Hmmm, perhaps Santa's elves developed the bricole in case the reindeer were lame or otherwise incapacitated. Take THAT you Napoleonics nit pickers!

Actually, that could be a cool book.

I'm sure it'll be a fine book – it just struck me as a bit odd for an Osprey ! I know that they are diversifying, but…anyway, I'm sure it'll be a fine book and I wish it well this December.

Anyone for a little game of "The Christmas Wars" – Team Frog?

Perhaps its time to consider the possibility that wargamers only make up a small percentage of Osprey's customer base?

Maybe – but their strap line is "Osprey Publishing – The destination for military history"

Tachikoma21 Jun 2014 5:31 a.m. PST

Point taken.
