Before Easter, I left the school I had taught at for almost 7 years to take a full time, better paying job with a human services agency that has residential programs. Two full weeks of training and hearing some harrowing tales of the abuse these kids have gone through and then a week of training of how to calm them or restrain them if required and I will start for real next week.
After two days of training on holds and takedowns, I have sore muscles that have not been sore in a long time. Thankfully I will likely never have to do the physical stuff, but will have to if a child's safety is at stake.
