…as he revealed in a very recent Twitter post that he has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which he admits is a result from his many decades of smoking. The news (with some photos) is at the link below:

I've always liked Mr. Nimoy's deep, rich voice, but I also had a feeling that it was more than likely the result of years of smoking. In the summer of 1983 I had the great fortune of seeing Mr. Nimoy in person at the University of Texas at Arlington. It was there that he revealed that there was to be another 'Star Trek' movie, and he brought some teaser production photos of what would be seen. Of course, everyone wanted to know if "Mr. Spock" would be resurrected in the movie, but he pleasantly kept the secret. By the way, one of the production photos was the one below:

My prayers and best wishes go out to Mr. Nimoy.

Live long and prosper, Mr. Nimoy.

I've had several friends and coworkers die from COPD, or complications arising from it.

Best of luck to Mr. Nimoy in dealing with this disease.

Yes – all best wishes to Mr Nimmoy. Spock (and he is the only real Spock, we all know that) is one of the iconic creations of 20th century fiction, and Leonard Nimmoy is and always will be the definitive representation.

Truly may he Live Long And Prosper.

A part of our entertainment history who could also play other roles which Spock will always overshadow.

Best wishes for Mr. Nimoy. That disease is taking my father in law down now, it's an evil wasting process.

Good thoughts for Mr. Nimoy. My mother died of complications from COPD.

We all die of something. When we go, we go. But in the meantime, I hope he is not in any discomfort and enjoying life….

Kill my mom as well but she spent years smoking unfiltered Pall Malls.

Those also help kill my dad as well.

Me I don't smoke and quit back when I was a teenager.

Learned very quickly that running long distance for track and smoking just don't work well together.
