Sleep, that is, according to a recent report: link So, I'm guessing the flushing of the "gunk" is the reason why we have nightmares, or dreams that just don't make any sense when we try to describe them? Interesting stuff. |

Well, if it could just flush the junk without the following nightmares: 1.) Something bad happening to a loved one. 2.) Me suddenly being in deep water, and then a certain predatory shadow appears
you know where this one goes. 3.) That half-dream thing where I'm in my bed sleeping and suddenly see a menacing form standing near the open closet door
I'll deal with the rest. Just stop giving me those. I hate those. |

But despite decades of research, scientists can't agree on the basic purpose of sleep. Reasons range from processing memory, saving energy to regulating the body. Perhaps, because evolution promotes efficiency, like many other body processes sleep has a number of interleaved important functions, of which none exerts primacy.
or maybe I just need to get more sleep. |

I still have nightmares of missed college classes and exams, or about my old workplace

I have been having the same dream 4 or 5 times a year since I was 14, A seemingly unstoppable man/vamp/zombie/monster thing keeps attacking me and the only thing I have to fight with in a cast iron frying pan. All it does is knock the thing down long enough to get into the next room or a step or 2 away from it. Cleaning my brain of that would be a good thing. |
