Took it down from the front door. Took it off the car. While he wont be in Indy until about 1330 on Saturday 28 September, my oldest has been stateside since Monday. Suspect Kuwait can get along without him. Am very proud of his service. He is about to go over 17 years and his enlistment will carry him over 20 years. He knows to stay until he gets his 20-year letter.

Thank him for his service for us, and enjoy him all you can.

I thank him for his service.

Just a word of warning the US forces have been booting good men out just short of their 20th year as of late. I have 3 friends discharged short of their enlistment and short of the 20 year mark. This is nothing but a money saving move the government learned from the big corporations and is using on the forces for the last 5 years.

Ron,

The military was doing what you describe back in 1990. My Gunny had 18 years in and they (The Corps) would not let him re-enlist. Good Marine, great SRB paper.

As his Capt, I went to the School of Infantry Co, my old Regt XO to complain. The Col. "stood on some desks" to get a re-enlistment for the Gunny. The Col was retiring and went out with a very good. deed.

Sorry, the military has been using a corporate mentality for a far too long time. I was in 20 years ago and suffered through it.

He made it safe. Have a video of his 2 year old daughter greeting him at the airport. Thank you for all of your well wishes.
