Disclaimer: Yeah…whatever…

Reference the previous story: TMP link

So "C" just sent me a list of the pc's that "need" this software on them…

Remember where I said "FOUR LICENSES ONLY"?

wait for it….

He's sends a request for six….

I just sent him a response (cc'ing it to his boss and HR once again, as well as the programmers), reminding him that "six" IS NOT "four"….

And the adventure continues….

I assume you included a sentence to the effect of "as soon as you provide two additional licenses purchased by your site, I will be happy to install them".

I'm with Zyphyr. And keep sending copies to the higher ups.

Who OKs how many licences and who to?

Pass the 'request' on to that person and let him/her deal with it.

"Rrobbyrobot"

What he said. About copies higher up that is.

As anticipated it turns out the outsourcing at our place is not going too well. It will eventually of course but in the interim I'm cc'ing the world when it comes to responding to their requests for info/help.

You also feel a righteous smugness in doing so which is a wondeful even if puerile feeling :-)

I would not survive in this environment.

I'd end up being the guy hung out to dry because I would have never thought to get HR and a boss CCed in while I was handling things with the ijit. And the ijit would toss me under the bus…

I guess it is a learning curve and employee/managers/service providers are out for themsleves and covering their own asses vice, "doing the right thing," or, "owning up."

You tailor your actions to the working environment, and I guess I work a pretty sheltered job, or just lucky enough not to have ijits like these around me I have to protect myself from.
