SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER | 09 Jun 2013 12:22 p.m. PST |
I've been chatting with a friend, and she and her husband are attending Gettysburg. She has told me the event is alcohol free, even after hours! What's up with that? |

Which one? The BGA event on the last weekend of June, or the GAC event on the first weekend of July? |

Once again, reenactment looses the battle with historical realism

Last time they had an openbar and the OFM showed up. It wasnt pretty. The Town Elders said, "Never Again!" |

I have attended many, MANY events where alcohol was officially banned but I have never, EVER attended an event where the ban was enforced :) It just means be sensible. |

Way back in NSSA days, booze was also a no-no. Guns and alcohol don't mix, was the reason. |

I'm planning on being at the GAC event. |

As long as you are not carry around a 40 oz and acting like a clown, no one is going to care about what is in you coffee cup or canteen. |

Scratch that. My ride needed more time to recover from some recent surgery. But hoping to watch the webcast of the event. |

Weeeeellll, let's just say that Rule Four (the no alcohol one) wasn't "exactly" held to. We had four kegs of Lager in our farb tent. And we finished them

I've been chatting with a friend, and she and her husband are attending Gettysburg. She has told me the event is alcohol free, even after hours! What's up with that? Based on my experiences as one of the board of management of the largest WWII organizations in the in the US, our events were officially dry. The reason was the insurance company had it as one of conditions of coverage. You will probably find the dead hand of liability issues behind this. |

And we still had cold Lager in our muckets

Wht is it that whenever a TV news crew interviews a reenactor they always choose the worst farb they can find? |
epturner | 15 Jul 2013 3:24 p.m. PST |
Because Farbs gravitate to TV newsies like bloody moths to a flame

How come all these battles took place at national parks? LOL |

"How come all these battles took place at national parks? LOL" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Well, they didn't really. They fought the battles near the parks but not on them. You can tell because there are no bullet holes in the monuments! |
