On Facebook, in your profile, you can indicate whether you are "interested in" men, women, or both.

I am having difficulty convincing a few of my non-English-speaking female relatives that "interested in women" does NOT mean "looking for a friend." grin

I am pretty sure that 95% of us think that if you answer that question at all, it suggests you are, as you say, "Looking for a friend."
