BBC news story here link What the likes of Cyberbunker/Anonymous etc don't realise is that for all their technical superiority, Mao was right. Power comes from the barrel of a gun. I can see a day when major governments start coming knocking. It won't be with viruses, it will be with men in Nomex suits and respirators carrying MP5s. |

It's almost entirely a European issue. US is not being hit measurably. |

I can see a day when major governments start coming knocking. It won't be with viruses, it will be with men in Nomex suits and respirators carrying MP5s. They already do this
but Anon is decentralized and loosely affiliated. Gratz, you arrested one of them
they are legion. And as far as gun barrels go
DoS attacks are pretty effective and powerful. Lost service ends up being lost revenue. Nowhere in that article is the group/individuals responsible for the attacks named though
no need to attack Cyberbunker/Anon for something they may well not have done. |

"They are legion." Oh, give me a break. What they are is a bunch of swelled-headed egotists with delusions of importance and superiority who wind up being little more than petty vandals and a nuisance to the rest of the planet. What they are is Khan without the great hair or the muscle tone or even interesting dialog, while not actually being superior to anything. Most of them are glorified script-kiddies who couldn't code so much as simple recursive algorithm without pre-done plugins. "We're freedom fighters," my Aunt Fanny. What they are is a bunch of irritating little twerps who've never given two minutes thought to what real-world effects their online temper tantrums can have. The think they're just "sticking it to the man," or "showing the corporate-political bosses" the "power of the people", without ever once realizing that their actions might actually be hampering innocent people's lives, livelihood and even medical health. I don't think that Anonymous ought to be lined up and shot; they're not worth the cost of the bullets. But they ought to be lined up and spanked and then sent to bed without any supper, which is probably what their Mommies and Daddies failed to do when these overgrown brats were just brats. As to the DDoS attack, saying you're not a spammer while spamming the people who identified you as one is the height of irony. No to mention hypocrisy. |

More "old people" jabbering from TMP
yes yes, kids these days
You don't have to like them, but you do have to acknowledge their status as folk heroes amongst the less curmudgeonly segment of society

Amen Parzival, but I do see the time when THE MAN will show up at the door with a gun. Costing people millions of dollars is no different from robbing a store with a gun. Mike Bunkermeister Creek SGT Says blog |

Less like robbing a store with a gun
more like shoving a wad of gum into the keyhole of the front door. |

Ah. So my opinion can be dismissed simply by calling me an "old person" (even though I am not old, except to children and teens, who think anyone over 30 is "old"). How typical. Oh, I know that to some ignorant segments of society that these code-clowns are "folk heroes." There are always gullible morons who have the economic and political understanding of a turnip to whom grandstanding destructive blather is compelling. That would be the same segments of society that think hurling bricks into Starbucks windows is a legitimate form of expression and is somehow a fight against "tyranny." It's amazing what bored, rich, disaffected First World youth will decide is "tyranny," given that they've never actually witnessed or recognized real tyranny anywhere in the world. Where there is real tyranny, these gutless wonders ignore it, because fighting real tyranny would require more than bricks and two-bit coding, and would face more than water hoses and fines in reply. It's easy to be "heroic" when your "enemy" Isn't out to kill you, and the worst thing you face is a fine and a couple of years in a minimum security facility (if that). If the coding community wants heroes, I suggest they honor the unnamed geniuses behind Stuxnet, who actually did something to stop a truly tyrannical regime from gaining nuclear weapons capability. If those individuals' names became public knowledge, they would indeed face retaliatory assassination. Unlike Anonymous, whom if they ever took off those stupid V masks would simply be arrested and fined for vandalism, and then sent back home to Mommy. |

Little Big Wars – If the spotty git gets his door kicked in and dragged off, and then interrogated about the network, where the servers are, who else is involved, do you think he is going to do anything other than wet himself and start telling everything? We're talking about privileged Western kids who think Mummy not buying them an iPhone is child abuse. If the CIA tortured them the same way as they torture AQ, do you think they will hold out. |

Well said Parzival. I just did a straw-poll among 40 reasonably intelligent teenagers and the unanimous opinion was that Anon and their ilk are twunts – legends in their own bedrooms who only do it to express their anger and frustration at the world for being completely unable to get a girlfriend. |
