Yes dry eyes can blind you! I woke up not being able to see clearly, read anything tell where the door handle was, and have to be driven to the doctor, and have it last all day and a night of drops and meds. FEAR is the only word I can use. yes the dryness pulled a layer of cells off my eyes, the doc said I was lucky it did not rip deeper and it will heal with out scaring. Yesterday I could not see my keyboard today its 80% back to before.
The stress of this was unreal. so save your self the fear if your eyes feel dry use some eye drops

Man, that is indeed scary! I am happy you got prompt treatment, and hopefully you will be back to normal soon.

But how did it happen?

Ron W DuBray27 Jan 2013 5:18 p.m. PST

just very dry air and getting older.

I'm very glad to hear you're recovering from that. I used to live in Michigan and dry air in the house in winter was often a problem. Although mostly nose bleed and 'super dandruf' issues. Seems that you need to add some moisture to your indoor air. Maybe you should look into getting a humidifier.

Thanks Rrobbyrobot we now have 2 running in the house

My sister had similar problem, they told her her tear ducts were blocked, and they had her lie with a warm moist wash cloth over her eyes for 10 minutes a couple times a day for about a week. She said that did the trick.
