Well Gents, having seen the current form of the contestants who are you taking for the Weekend?

Personally, I think the Patriots will have too many weapons for the Ravens and SF will edge the Falcons.

Although I will admit a bias on liking the Pats in general and the 49ers from back in the Montana/Young era(s.

Oddball15 Jan 2013 4:57 a.m. PST

Full disclosure, I'm a huge Patriots fan.

I was very impressed with the Ravens this weekend. They never gave up and won a very hard fought game. Denver also stayed in it, but came up short.

That being said, I don't think the Ravens will pull out another miracle. The Patriots even without Gronk have to many weapons and the defense it playing very well (finally).

I don't underestimate the Ravens as they beat the Patriots early in the season, 31-30, but that was in Baltimore, not Foxboro.

SF is firing on all cylinders. Very scary team to play if you are not a 49er's fan. Played a solid game from start to finish. Falcon's looked very good in first half, but not in second. Now they are playing in Atlanta, so I think it will be a close game. it will come down to who makes the least mistakes.

I believe the Patriots are going to the Superbowl, facing Falcons or 49er's will be seen. I'd prefer the Falcons simply because they haven't been there before (if I remember correctly).

SF beat Patriots in regular season, but New England almost pulled out a comeback. They had just dug themselves too big a hole in the first half to recover.

I predict that Joe Buck and Troy Aikman will continue to use the word 'defense' as a verb.

The Falcons have been to one SB – losing to Elway's Broncos.

As for predictions, I am 100% certain I will not like any winners this weekend, so I will be rooting for sloppy play, minor injuries (enough to keep you out of the SB but not enough to keep you out next year), horrendous officiating and rain. Inside the SuperDome. Freezing rain.

Since both of my Superbowl pix (Broncos and Packers)
have been defeated, I've no business prognosticating
BUT here's my pix:

Patriots and 49'ers.

Too much Brady and offense, although if Flacco has gained
confidence, it might be a challenging game for the Pats'
D.

Kaepernick versus the Atlanta defense – well, the Falcons
had trouble with the Seahawks' Wilson, so the Niner's
should prevail – especially with their defense !

If the games are as close as half of those just
concluded, it should be a very entertaining week-end !

I predict there will b no Harbaughs coaching in the super Bowl.

Trajanus15 Jan 2013 9:00 a.m. PST

Ah yes, Harbaugh Bowl, now there's a thought.

OFM's not a fan of either of them as I recall! :o)

Both games…too close to call.

Ravens for some odd reason!

I like John's line of thinking, a Harbaugh free Super Bowl would be nice.

At least it's a 100% certainty of a Manning free one, thank Christ.

Huge Patriots fan as well, I'm taking the Patriots, Gronkowski out, Woodhead out, no problem, they plug in the next guy and move forward.

Too many weapons on offense and on defense, the Talib trade was huge, him and Dennard are doing well at CB, McCourty is at safety where he belongs, defense is much better now than earlier in the season, just don't let Smith or Boldin get behind the safties and they'll be fine.

Nice run by the Ravens, but it and the Ray Ray farewell tour both end on Sunday.

The Falcons should have lost on Sunday, Cucumber and the 49ers are loaded, they will win on Sunday, 49ers/Patriots Super Bowl.

Speaking of the 49ers, they do a nice job of defensive holding quite a bit, watch Smith as he grabs two offensive lineman and allows other 49er defensive lineman to waltz in on the QB, the refs never call it, but they do it all the time.
