If you are in the neighborhood of Gettysburg this coming weekend, the annual Remembrance Day Parade will be taking place on Saturday, Nov. 17, starting around 1:00PM. 3 or 4 thousand reenactors will march down Baltimore St. to Steinwehr Avenue and then on to the park entrance. It usually gets pretty crowded on the sidewalks so get there early for a good viewing spot.

and it will rate as the worst one I have been to in 15 years. Beautiful weather, but a complete and utter disorganized mess. I believe it was the Mifflin Guard was the only Union unit with any sense of order. The parade was at least an hour late getting started.

Well, when we discovered that our usual form-up field was now a construction site that did sort of throw a monkey wrench into the works. But we were able to form up on the road without too much difficulty. And the parade was, indeed late starting. But what 'disorganized mess' are you referring to? There was the usual gaggle of GAR, SUV and odds and sods leading the parade but that happens every year. Then came the National Regiment and then the Mifflin Guard and we were both in fine order. I couldn't see what was happening behind us. Some sort of mess back there?
