I didn't realise how useful the iPhone camera is until it stopped working yesterday. All I get now is the "iris/shutter" graphic in a closed position.

I can't find anything in Settings which may be to do with the camera. Any ideas of what may be the problem?

I'm resisting going on to an iPhone help forum for now through sheer laziness (having to register etc) but I appreciate it may come to that unless the combined TMP mind can help.

Thanks

Doug

Make an appointment at the Apple store it's the best way I don't like doing things like that myself, 10 to 1 they have to do fix it anyway.

Have you tried power-cycling your phone?

Looking online it appears to be a fairly common hardware problem that Apple is aware of.

I don't know what that is…!

Yes, I looked as well and there's all sort of peculiar suggestions to fix it. Apple shop sound best – I'll have to track one down.

power cycling your iPhone is shutting it completely off – and then rebooting it.

If you have a Mac computer – plug it in, back it up, and reset the thing to factory pre-sets. Then restore the data. It might work IF it is an electronic problem. If it is a mechanical issue – contact an Apple shop.
