Let me count my tears:

1! Ah ah ah!

2! . . .

RIP, Mr. Nelson, and thank you.

Took a special kind of actor to turn a vampire into a beloved character. Jim Henson is catching up with him now.

Thanks for all the years and also for your lesser known roles.

Next to Jim Henson, Jerry Nelson was a truly gifted and talented Muppeteer. Not only was he known for giving life to "The Count", he also gave life to the following memorable Muppets…:

"The Amazing Mumford"

"Sherlock Hemlock"

"Herry Monster"

"Mr. Johnson", who was always Grover's hapless customer

…and many, many others. He was so adept in his performances that he even performed in the 'What's My Line?' "spoof" entitled 'What's My Part?' as a one time contestant character called "Mr. Foot", using his own bare foot. The significant thing about it was that when his character was told to sign in, he did, legibly (and amazingly) writing the word "foot" on a chalkboard with a piece of chalk grasped between his toes! The "spoof" can be seen at SesameStreet.com, and here is a scene from that "spoof", with that unique character alongside perpetual game show host "Guy Smiley":

He also experienced a great tragedy fairly early in his career as a Muppeteer. He lost his only child, Christine, to cystic fibrosis in 1982. Here they are together in the movie 'The Great Muppet Caper':

Godspeed, Mr. Nelson, and thank you VERY, very much for your talent and the many great and cherished childhood memories you brought to us through your Muppet characters.

So sad. My kids were raised on the muppets, ergo, I watched him many times.

The day he died(before I found out) I had teased my wife counting fruits in the store as the count.

Four
Four tomatoes ah ah ah

Then I come home and find out about him.
Sad day – one of my favorites.
