Arthur, I just wasted 45 mins on this and that was including the fast forward.

The Gray Ghost30 Jun 2012 12:20 p.m. PST

and another thing you tune into a tv channel now cause they are listing the original movie only to be shown the remake.

jpattern230 Jun 2012 12:55 p.m. PST

Gotta look at the year, too.

But, yeah, I'd like to meet the guy who thought that remake was a good idea.

Eventually they will reboot Indiana Jones and Star Wars. It's not if, it's when.

Well, we know that, but if you don't mind we were talking movies here (sheesh – enough already!).

grin

Can you imagine if they remade Kojak ? Who'd get the Telly Savalas role ?

The Gray Ghost30 Jun 2012 4:53 p.m. PST

The marketplace has been stocked with an ever-growing collection of rereleases, sequels, and remakes, thanks to an entertainment industry that suffers from a condition I've named corporatephagia. This is the entertainment industry version of a behavior evidenced by my dog, Joey, that's called coprophagia: He decides that a meal he has previously enjoyed can be appreciated again once it has been processed through his system and emerged out of the opposite end from which it entered.

Arthur,

What ever possessed anyone to think that Dudley Moore would be improved on by that smarmy Russell what'shisname twit is beyond me.

John the OFM30 Jun 2012 5:17 p.m. PST

I just checked. OMG, they redid "Bedazzled". Thankfully I missed it.

Whatisitgood4atwork30 Jun 2012 5:58 p.m. PST

Possibly the most truly pointless remake of ll time: Psycho.

Remaking Casablanca with Pam Anderson and Tem Morrison is a candidate for worst ever too.

Saginaw30 Jun 2012 9:03 p.m. PST

Damn near any remake, "reimagining", or whatever Hollyweird's calling it these days.

skippy000130 Jun 2012 9:24 p.m. PST

genre switches I can understand (Yojimbo/Fistfull of Dollars/Last Man Standing) but p--s poor sequels/remakes ….everythings' a rerun.

blackscribe30 Jun 2012 9:31 p.m. PST

Yep, but the deleted wish from the Bedazzled remake is *amazing*.

Caesar30 Jun 2012 9:39 p.m. PST

These are the safe movies to make.

Part 1 of this review beginning at 5:48 explains this well.

NSFW.

I liked the new bedazzled it was pretty funny.

20th Maine "Can you imagine if they remade Kojak ? Who'd get the Telly Savalas role ?"

Not sure if you were kidding or not but they did and it was Ving Rhames

Pictors Studio01 Jul 2012 4:59 a.m. PST

The problem with this thread is that the first post pretty much nailed it as far as the worst remake goes.

Terrement01 Jul 2012 9:07 a.m. PST

Not worth its own thread, but I'd nominate all of the brain dead TV to movie adaptations, like the Brady Bunch, Flintstones, Rocky & Bullwinkle, etc.

bandit86 – honestly, I was joking.

Was the remake any good ? Wiki tells me that in the UK it was shown on ITV4 – hint : that's less popular than ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 (if that even exists !). So, I never saw it.

Post-Apocalyptic remake of "Casablanca" set in a strip club

I think this might be the start of a beautiful friendship…not….Loser !

Why do they do it ? Why ? Why ? Why ?

Wizard Whateley03 Jul 2012 9:33 a.m. PST

Godzilla.

Space Monkey03 Jul 2012 9:56 a.m. PST

'Godzilla' would have been OK if they just would have called it something else… dropped the allusion to the Big G altogether.

The remakes of 'The Haunting', 'Black Christmas and 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre' get my vote… all were awful movies in their own right and took a big dump on the original.

Strangely though I prefer the Rob Zombie remakes of the 'Halloween' movies to the originals… the same for the remake of 'The Fog'.

Remakes aren't always bad… lots of classic films are remakes of earlier stuff that time has forgot.
There are a slew of crappy old sci-fi/horror films that I'd happily remake if I had the power/dough/time.

The Italian Job
Get Carter

Cyclops03 Jul 2012 12:33 p.m. PST

I'd nominate all of the brain dead TV to movie adaptations, like the Brady Bunch,…

The Brady Bunch movies were a stroke of genius. Taking the perfect '70s American family and moving them untouched to the '90s? What's not to like?

Judge Doug08 Aug 2012 11:10 a.m. PST

the remake of Solaris was exponentially better than the original. Tighter, better pacied, better acted, shot better, more comprehensible, more emotional.

Scarface is apparently being remade…………

Oh really? Which one? The 1932 version with Paul Muni or the 1983 remake with Al Pacino?

Godzilla.

Oh ya, let's not tamper with a cinematic masterpiece!
