Any idea on how to get the Talonsoft games to work on Windows 7?

If not any idea how to decode the 'save games' – I did once, many years ago, because you can open them with a text reader, and I could see all the stats for all the units easily.

There is loads of info in the save files – unit strength, grading, weapon type, morale etc, and it would be great to be able to pick this all up again.

You can get them new from Matrix Games, that work with Windows 7. I don't know how to get old ones to work on it though.

check out DOSbox or ScummVM. I use them all the time to run old school games.

Can't get it to play under either of those – thanks anyway. I don't want to buy a version really,as I already have it, and I only want to decode the OOB

This is what the OOB for the computer looks like

L 2 4 4 Brig. Gen. Henry Baxter
U 3 3 I R 21 7 12th Massachusetts
U 2 3 I R 24 14 83rd NY (9th Militia)
U 2 3 I R 22 14 97th New York
U 3 3 I R 40 13 11th Pennsylvania
U 3 3 I R 40 13 88th Pennsylvania
U 2 3 I R 40 13 90th Pennsylvania

U means 'Unit', L is Leader, B is Brigade etc
Next two numbers I think areStrength and quality (?)
I = Infantry
R = ?Rifle
the last two are the hex location

Does any body know for sure, and have a list of all the weapon codes (inc arty and Cav)

Also what do the strength points represent man wise?
