We're sorry to hear this, we have always admired his work – one of the best. A great loss. |

Not only a great and inspiring artist/historian but an excellent "talking head" on several instructional videos I used in teaching. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. His books will continue to inspire me. RIP |

RIP. Echoing the comments above, I have some of his work and it is quite good. First ran into him as the illustrator for Robinson's 'Armour of Imperial Rome. Was impressed then and was still impressed with 'Greece and Rome at War.' Ave atque vale.
P.S. Almost forgot, his illustrations of Robinson's reconstruction of the Newstead lorica inspired my construction of a copy. It was like a plan set. |

I still have his Odysseus book; also I have In Search of the Trojan War on DVD and will rewatch the segment of his interview – with a model of a Dendra warrior – IIRC Connolly making slashing motions with his sword to the dismay of Michael Wood – check him out at 31:00 here YouTube link . Dean |

His work must have introduced thousands into the period over the years and he leaves a considerable body of work for generations to enjoy. Remembered in Elysium. |

When the news of this broke I had three of his books by my side. I Have always found his work informative and inspirational and have frequently referred to his works. They were a definate first choice "go to" whenever I wanted to look up something Greek or Roman. This is a great loss. Rest well Mr. Connolly, and thank you for all the help and inspiration over the years. |
