I ran across a lifeboat movie partway in,and I cant find the title, despite googling.None of the actors stood out as big names, either. It was an overcrowded lifeboat, with both strong and injured men and women.A storm is coming, and on the advice of a dying officer, the captain decides to throw the weak ones overboard(at gunpoint) so the strong could survive and row to land. The storm is strong but short, and very soon they are rescued. The captain is tried and convicted for murder, but given a light sentence,d/t the circumstances.Supposedly a true story.Anybody know this one?

Oh, I should add it was black/white,made either 50's or 60's by my guess.

Good call; the last bit (the chap being convicted) isn't in the film but is mentioned in voiceover as having happened in the real incident the story was inspired by.

I remember seeing this movie years ago. It was very good. Not available on DVD, shame.

Same here. One of Tyrone Power's last completed films.

Was remade in '75 as a TV movie with Martin Sheen, The Last Survivors or something like that. I only saw that version once but pretty much the same as the Tyrone Power version.
