I got an email and Amazon will give me money back for my used CDs. Great! I can unload the CDs in the basement that haven't seen the light of day ever since I ripped them into MP3s. |

I got a bunch of C.D.s I never listen too, and they were never transferred to a device. |

Wouldn't Amazon be duty bound to ensure they were not used again? I could stick a note in the box of returned CDs: "Do not use, I have MP3s" Seems to me, if Amazon didn't follow that, they would be on the hook for copyright violation. I did my due diligence. |

Since presumably Amazon are buying these things back for resale, I suspect they'd refuse to pay you if you did that. They may also shop you to the RIAA. I don't think it'd be their responsibility to ensure they've not been copied – that's your responsibility. |

It looks like other Industry experts think like Elmo To get the best deal, consumers can copy songs from the discs to their computer for free before selling, Rayburn says. |

Owning the CD is like owning the license. If you sell the CD back, you are transferring the license. So, ripping them and then selling the CD is pretty much piracy. The same problem occurred with Library's and computer games. People would check out the game, make there copy including the manual and then return the game. |

Mr Elmo, would it be too much to ask for you to supply the link to that quotation, rather than just conjuring it up out of thin air? |

Next thing ya know, books will be returned to Amazon because folks will find a way to put them on Kindle. |
