I am considering supplementing my income by restarting my painted stained glass hobby from years ago. One of the niches I am exploring is something along the lines of unit insignias with personal ribbons and rank insignia in the border. These could be used as retirement gifts, promotion gifts, etc. Size would be variable but in general I have done similar things in the 16"x24" range. Other areas I have done include zodiac symbols, Tarot cards, and coats of arms.

Since the military naturally has multiple forms I would need to fill out for the licensing I would like to get a feel if such things have a market or worse, some Chinese company is already doing it for $15.99 USD frown

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I think you just answered your own question.

Disregard what napthyme said.

Make your USP that the product is made in America by Americans. Might be worth setting up shop as a concessionaire at one of the AAFES PXs at Ft. Hood. On weekends at first and then who knows?

When in Panama, a warrant in my wife's unit did that. As a result we have a really nice set of staned glass aviator wings and a couple other things too.

The warrant seemed to always be back logged with orders, both for indivduals and even units would have their crests done and stuff.

You would probably have to eat the cost on a few sample pieces, maybe branch insignia/airborne wings/some big unit (if near Hood 1CD is a good bet) to show off. Make sure you have a good handle on glass costs and ordering timelines too.
