We have a 'Roaring 40s' evening coming up (uniforms welcome), so I thought I'd try and track one down to wear
the things you find on Ebay. Anyone for a Supermarine Swift?
Or perhaps some chaff pods
(Presumably just the pods
) |

I'd go with the pods – the aircraft outfit might make supping a pint quite a challenge? |

I'd worry about the shipping charges on the Swift. |

I suppose a link might have helped: auction £50,000.00 GBP (plus VAT) This is the only complete WK275 (F Mk.4) in existence to our knowledge, its also the very same variant (F Mk.4) of the Supermarine swift which broke the absolute speed record as above. The exterior of the plane is in reasonable condition considering how old it is (and how long its been exposed to the elements), there are a few spots where there is damage as illustrated in the photos but from what I can see of the inside they look in almost perfect condition considering its age. The cockpit was made water tight 20 years ago to prevent water from penetrating the interior in a ditch to preserve and it seems some what successful. This truly is a piece of history that any keen restoration guru would be itching to get their hands on. Collect in person ;-) |
