Between myself and my girlfriend we've amassed a fairly large DVD collection and I had the idea that it might be possible to copy these to either itunes, or an external storage device in order that we could ditch the DVD's in the loft and just view from the drive.

Anyone got any experience of doing this sort of thing? A little advice on tech and required storage capacity.

An average DVD takes up about 4.2 GB of space, so you will need a lot of storage space for them. Estimate it at 4.5GB per movie and you'll have a good safe number.
