Hoping Shadow or one of the other knowledgeable members of TMP can help with this one.

I vaguely (*very* vaguely) remember seeing a black-and-white movie serial from the '30s on TV back in the '90s (maybe on AMC) that featured actors dressed as Sea People as an Atlantean or other sci-fantasy race. Sort of like the bad guys in Undersea Kingdom, but with the distinctive Sea People headgear: TMP link

Of course, I could be conflating a serial with a biblical epic like Samson & Delilah, or something like that:

Any help is deeply appreciated. This has been bugging me for years.

I first thought it was Ray "Crash" Corrigan but the pics don't match. Maybe a Flash Gordon one?

FWIW, I too remember the headgear and it was in B&W (or maybe it wasn't and it was just our B&W TV) but don't remember if it was a serial or something like one of the many "Sons of Hercules" type movies.

Keep hunting, as will I…

Hedy Lamarr,George Sanders, and Henry Wilcoxon pictured above. Paramount's costume depratment likely provided the stuff worn in the movie. Corrigan's likely came from Republic(which made "Undersea Kingdom"),Buster Crabbe's outfit from Universal. Of course, film studios borrowed props(and performers) from each other from time to time(Ed Wood "borrowing " a rubber octopus from the Republic lot for "Bride Of The Monster").

I know. George Sanders has always been a favorite of mine. In addition to his great movie roles, including a bunch of biblical and sword-and-sandal flicks, he played Mr. Freeze in a couple of episodes of the old '60s "Batman" TV series, and he was the voice of Shere Khan in "The Jungle Book."

I figured the prop guy for the serial I'm thinking of said something like, "Yeah, let's use those weird helmet-things from 'Solomon and Sheba' for the bad guys, but give 'em some rayguns instead of swords."

Still hoping to hear from The Shadow. His knowledge of the old serials is *way* broader and deeper than mine.

Wilcoxon also worked a lot with director Cecil B. DeMille.

Wilcoxon was DeMille son in law.
