I mentioned previously that I picked up some language software at a great price. However, to get the best use out of it, I need to add a microphone to my machine.

The options I'm familiar with are:

1. Stand-alone microphone
2. Headset with built-in microphone
3. Microphone built into a webcam

I was wondering, from those of you who have used language learning software, if you have any advice.

No experience with language software but from years of using Skype, narrating powerpoints with Camtasia and two way video conferencing I would usually go with the headset with microphone. It does a better job of cutting down ambient background noise.

Agree with Waco Joe. Just make sure the mike's boom
can be moved away from your face/mouth. Regular
headset rather than earbuds, also.

If there's not much ambient noise a table microphone can be better.

I'll give the table mike a shot. Thanks!
