I have been turning on the news every morning since 1993 waiting for this news. I am afraid however what will come next. Lock and load we are in for a bumpy ride.

Congratulations US. Very happy for you, had to phone my former Marine step-son – he was with the first US Marines that arrived in Afghanistan, wounded in Tora Bora Jan 2002. I realize (wink to James) other special ops were there long before.

I share James fears as well. Great victory.

And Bleeped text on anyone who complains about current affairs.

Got an email on the old boy network. Seems some SOF forces did a ground assault on a compound.

"Delta did it."

My hats off to them I heard no casualties. Thank goodness. Hopefully none wounded as well. Hopefully everyone got a souvenir photograph.

I think there has never been a more appropriate time for this:

I'm going to unilaterally declare May 1st to from now on and forever be known as "Special Operators Day" in the US.

Let is be so.

Cia spokeman said the intelligence gathering for this over the last couple of years was done by British, Canadian, Polish and American troops, with the raid itself carried out by US special forces. Well done all. 1 down, lots more to go. Pakistan could get ugly, as could the rest of the world. Fingers crossed they found information at the compound to allow for the capture of other high ranking Al Queda members.

Navy Seals apparently, but I think we need to let the dust settle for the full details to come out.

how the Mail and Telegraph are reproting the raid:

I like it when bad things happen to bad people.

Seems he used a woman as a human shield in the gun battle.

vojvoda02 May 2011 5:24 a.m. PST

Yes seem the SEALs were on point this time. Hats off to our fellow bothers in "other" service. They would have taken him alive but….

Apparently it wasn't the US at all but Kim Jong-Il:

All by himself, too.
