I read his early comics when I was a kid, especially Deathlok. I loved his work on the DC animated shows. I've seen lots of interviews with him, just a great guy. Hugely influential as an African American working in comics. I'll miss him a lot.

Not being a comic fan I've never heard of him but he was obviously a talented and important contributor. Sad for the industry.

Oh man, That IS a shock. I had just been ordering on pre-release new Justice League animated movie "Doom" and I knew it would be good because he had penned the wonderful "Crisis on Two earths" JLA movie, along with other superior scripts and books. His passing is a real loss.

And in all this time (cause I don't follow the inner workings or behind the scenes stuff), I never even realized he was a black writer. I just knew his name as a great writer.
