I just tried using EZSniper to submit a bid for an auction in the last few seconds. But the bid didn't go through. It said it was blocked. Has anyone had this happen before? Do seller's somehow block bids from sniping sites?

I'd also contacted the seller because I'd seen him selling the same Victorian/Dark Africa Foundry figures over & over. & I'd asked him if he was recasting them. So I'm wondering if that was the reason I was blocked.

I believe that sellers can block bidders who do not meet requirements (such as X NPBs in last 6 months) as a general block as well as by name as a specific block.

Even though it was sniping software and not you on line, your account is bidding and if you've asked him that question, he may well have blocked you.

I'd think it would have given some sort of message explaining why you were blocked.

I'd say it was because of the question about re-casting you asked, either because he's genuine and felt affronted or he's actually re-casting and doesn't want to sel to someone who'll spot it.

You can't block sniping software, he has almost certainly blocked you by name.

Blocking by default also happens, e.g. when the seller does not bother to allow bids from outside of his or her region, in which case it is nothing personal.

When contacted, some sellers will make exceptions (if they know how), but this seems infeasible when bids will already have been submitted.

Unfortunately, some sellers cannot even be contacted to be asked in the first place.

Got to agree with Jim on this one, sounds like a deliberate and personal blocking to me.

Thanks. ebay just gives a generic message about the various reasons a bid could be blocked, not anything specific about my bid.

I've had an ebay account for years & have bought from this seller before, & we're in the same country.

At least the seller responded to my question about why I was blocked. But he's saying it's due to the sniping software.

But he's saying it's due to the sniping software.

That makes no sense. What seller would not want you to bid up his auctions?

EBay does not give a reason for why you are blocked.

Your question about recasting has definitely harmed this fragile flower.

If you really want the figures start a new account or have a friend bid and pay for you.

@ Terrement,

What's X NPB's? Not Paid Bids?
