This week is the annual Cedar Creek ACW reenactment just south of Winchester, VA. This is a nice event set in the scenic Shenandoah Valley. It's easy to get to (right off I-81) and puts on a pretty good show for spectators. Unlike most reenactments it's held on a part of the actual battlefield. If you are in the area, drop by!

Have never heard a bad report of this reenactment. Very few events can make this statement. Never made it there but several sutler friends rave about it. Of course the sutlers are interested in other than the battle.

Only problem we ever had was the "hobnail skiing" on the exposed limestone veins on the hillsides. Luckily we were field medics and didn't have longarms to add to the dance--only about 50 pounds of water/ice/medical equipment.
It was always a nice event in any case.
