Well, after serving the city of Dallas for 28+ years, Reunion Arena, once the sparkling jewel of a sports venue in the DFW Metroplex, was finally demolished yesterday. One news article chronicles it here: link And here is an amateur video of it's demise: YouTube link On a personal note, my older brother and I saw many Dallas Maverick games at old Reunion back in the early '80s, during the era of great players like Mark Aguirre, Rolando Blackman, Brad Davis, and many others. We sat in the balcony, with the large animated scoreboard suspended in front of us. There was nothing fancy or innovative about the arena. It was just the fact that the NBA had finally come to Dallas, and we got to see the legendary likes of Abdul-Jabbar, Dr. J, The Iceman, and others whose reputation lent added ambiance to the newness of Reunion. The structure is now gone, but it's memories will last forever. Thank you very much, Reunion Arena, for all the great times we experienced there. |

I don't 'bout you guys, but that didn't look like the safest way to bring down that structure. |

I don't 'bout you guys, but that didn't look like the safest way to bring down that structure. You and me both, ADub. The words "World's Scariest Videos" kept roaming around my brain while watching it. |

I wonder how long those crane/driller drivers practiced popping those suckas into reverse? |

Whatever happened to demolition charges that would have taken all of those pillars out at once and brought it straight down? No wonder they were the low bidder. Apocalypse Now! JW |
