Sheldon Dorf passed away after a year-long illness and a continued struggle with diabetes. After moving to California, he founded the Golden State Comic Book Convention in 1970 which was held in the basement ballroom of a small hotel in San Diego with 300 people in attendance. It has since grown to become a vital part of the entertainment industry.
