Anyone else having problems with Mozilla Firefox? Over the last few months, it's been crashing frewquently – so much so that today I took the momentuous decision to make Internet Explorer my default browser.

I suppose the Firefox problem could be some kind of conflict with something else I've got but I'm just wondering if it is in fact a general problem?

Happily using Firefox at home on my PC & here at work on my G5 Mac. No issues with either set-up..

No issues here either.

Seems recent versions are more stable on my config.

No, still quite happy with Fire Fox, but I did notice a problem after a Windows update recently

The blessing and curse of Firefox are the plugins. Often they become unstable if not updated by the authors as Firefox gets upgraded. Uninstall your plugins and see if it helps.

Also, Firefox can be an immense hog when it comes to CPU resourses and memory, especially when you have 10-20 tabs opened at once.

I ditched Firefox a few months ago, when it just became too slow to bear any longer.

I opened it the other day by accident (as I've never actually removed it from my computer) and again could only fume as it turgidly processed and rendered even the most simple of sites, sites which that my IE happily puts up on screen in no time.

Only problems I have had are with Microsoft installing stuff to Firefox without my permission.

I'd try uninstalling it and then reinstalling it again

Yep, no problems across four different OSes here.

As of version 3.5, Firefox is loading much more quickly. Once I'm in, the speed is very good. I second the recommendation to try disabling any add-ins. Many of them really slow things down by trying to do "helpful" thumbnails of pages I might look at and other unnecessary (IMO) overhead.

I'll go add-on hunting, then…

I have the same problem.

It is easy to over-bloat Firefox with too many plug-ins.

My son kept complaining about Firefox and slow speeds so I turned him onto Chrome. Now he's running that and happy as all get out.
