I have a Sony (WE-625) Cassette Tape Deck with all the bells and whistles, but right now I have two (2) cassette tapes stuck in there and they won't come out (eject).

And Yes, I've tried to eject when the deck is turned on and off…no joy!

I may have hit the wrong button as it dubs, etc, but these are old (but perfectly fine) cassettes that have some pretty rare music on them…mostly from the members of the Purps (DP) before they became the Purps…like

Nero and the Gladiators

The Artwoods

Episode 9.

Does anyone know HOW I can eject these cassettes so I can play them in my little portable stereo…I miss hearing Ritchie Blackmore doing his first recorded version of "Hall of the Mountain King"!

It sounds like the mechanism is jammed. There is no sure fire way to get these tapes out besides taking the equipment apart. Also the machine probably jammed because it miss-fed the physical tape of one of the cassettes across the rollers Chances are that at least one of the tapes is ruined.

Thanks EW…it may come down to it, but just to clarify a bit, neither tape ever "played"…they just loaded and set w/minimal movement…again, I think I hit some dub or copy button by accident and it seems that some sort of electronic "command", for all intents and purposes, is not allowing them to do anything…but again, you could very well be correct too!

Have you tried unplugging the unit? If it's on standby when it's turned "off," it may be that "command" is still in place. Unplugging it for a minute or so may clear it out.

I'd do what StarfuryXL5 said – unplug it and see if the thing resets. Otherwise – get out your small screw drivers.

Make sure the heads are clean so you won't have to deal w/magnetic issues. That's happened to me.
