This one may be good for The OFM (IIRC he used to do CAD work) but anyone that has AutoCAD experience may be able to help. Here's the problem:

I'm working on a title block for a customer right now and I'm having problems importing the logo graphic for the title block. I can get the raster image to come in fine, it even shows up when I insert the block. However after I open the drawing a second time all I see is "filename.bmp" where the logo image should be. What am I doing wrong? I'm using AutoCAD 2004 if its any help.

I never had to do that.
However, if I did, I would experiment with how you are inserting it. There is more than one way.
I would try exploding it, binding it, putting it in paper space. And so on.
Sorry I can't be more help, but I remember being frustrated by similar.
The tutorials should help, and the Autodesk FAQ should help too.

I suspect that the logo graphic needs to be be rendered as a vector file. This will require re-drawing it in a program such as Adobe Illustrator which can then be imported as vectors usable by AutoCAD.

Sounds like AutoCAD is losing track of the file location. It happens when the drawing or the image file location is changed. Make sure when you insert the image you select "full path".

Which is why I suggest binding it. With the file inside the drawing, instead of as another file, like an Xref, it might behave better.

John, in the older versions of Autocad (pre-2007 at least) you can't bind a raster image.

As noted above the image will either have to be converted to vector and inserted, or the path has to be saved when it is attached. To send the drawing to someone else and have the image displayed, the image will have to be transmitted with the drawing (and re-pathed if necessary).

There is a freeware package out there called 'Wintopo' that I used a couple of times (it came with an Intellicad package I was evaluating) that seemed to work well. If the image is complex (or you will be using it frequently) I might go that route. I have also just inserted images and 'traced' them in autocad.
