Bill, Just a suggestion, of course . . . What if obituary threads were limited to ONLY the following categories? * Family * Friends * Pets * Fellow Gamers * Individuals That Influenced Gaming I think that would cut back on the number of posts that invite controversial posts, with pro and con opinions, about people that are in the public limelight (politicians and other public personalities), something that should really fall under current affairs. What do you say? Dan PS. I wasn't sure if this belonged under this board, or if it goes in the Talk About TMP board. Please delete whichever you think doesn't belong. Thanks. |

How bout just some common respectful decency for the recently departed, whatever side of the cultural/political divide they happen to fall upon? I'm sure Bill will let us go to town when someone who is universally hated dies, like Charles Manson. For example, our reaction when Saddam died: TMP link Of course NOW, anyone who compares Saddam to Ted Kennedy might need their tinfoil helmet adjusted. lol |

A comment here brought to my attention the possibility of making Servicemen another category that could be included: TMP link CC |

Stop me, stop me, before I do it again? Just be polite or be quiet. Not hard to do. Dan |

I really have no problem with the standing rule that only respectful entries should be put into the obituary threads. Just because some people don't understand why dancing on graves is rude doesn't mean the rule needs to be altered. Just because some people lack self-control doesn't mean the nature of the forum should be changed. |

I would say only allow respectful comments. Just because you want to dance on someone's grave doesn't mean that you are right or that it is right. Your greatest person is someone else's most evil, your most evil is someone else's greatest. So, allow any obits, but ONLY if you are being respectful. |

CC, I must respectfully point out that so far you seem to be the only one with a problem with obits the way they're currently handled. You need to get back to your home and family, man! :) |

* Fellow Gamers * Individuals That Influenced Gaming I always found it odd that posts beyond the above were even posted to the TMP obit. I'm not saying other types should be disallowed or not. I just find it odd. I normally avoid the obit board anyway. I see enough spin and suger coating on the real news. |

Just express regrets over the passing of people you like and quiet smugness over outliving those you don't. |
