Not only is the music terrific, but the back story is great, too. Not only is EVERYBODY in the band cheating on everybody else, but they actually write the album's songs about it. Now, "singer-songwriters" taking revenge for imagined slights on those unable to respond is par for the course. However, here, the offenders and offendees get together on background vocals, and play the instruments! How cool is that??? And, they are REALLY ed off in their lyrics. "Damn your love, damn your lies!" "If you don't love me now, you will never love me again
" How cool is that? They hate each other, but not so much as to interfere with making really good music. The OFM gives his thumbs up. Possibly because I would have loved to join in on the cheatin' with Stevie and Christine

Now THAT would make a great movie, John! And the title of it, just like the album: "Rumours" (sorry
actual spelling) I'd actually darken a theater's door and pay the $10.00 USD (?) to see that. But what contemporary actor or actress would be engaging and convincing enough to be cast in the roles? Oh well, it was nice enough to dream about it for a time, since the band members more than likely won't give their permission for it. |

Saw an interview recently where Mick Fleetwood said that he preferred his wife to have an affair with his best friend (McVie) rather than a stranger. The nearest thing to that situation was the Mamas & Papas @I Saw Her Again Last Night'. John knew Michelle & Denny were having an affair so he wrote the song for them to sing. That finished it. |

I just uploaded that album to my computer the other day and listened to the whole thing for the first time since 1978. It still holds up as a superb piece of work, and all the background drama does indeed make it a much more layered listen. |

One of the best pop/rock albums of all time, beginning to end. |

I only ever thought it was okay. But the affair with Stevie and Christine would have been pretty good. |

It was one of the first Mrs Sage's favourite albums. Naturally I hate it |

In the DVD of their reunion concert from the late '90s, every once in a while one of them will look daggers at one or more of the others. It adds a nice subtext to the music: "Ooh, did you see the look that Stevie just shot at Lindsey? Ouch!" |

It was one of the first Mrs Sage's favourite albums. Naturally I hate it Let's see. You hate the 'Rumours' album, and you hate jazz. Is there anything that you like, Connard? |

I like (not a comprehensive list) Blues, opera, Alice Cooper, Leonard Cohen and Donald Fagen/Steely Dan Where does the last leave my anti jazz sentiments? :) |

Let's see: Okay, okay, definitely, not familiar, and most definitely. Gee. We're almost alike in some respects. Be afraid, my friend. |

I just bought that at half price books for 6 bucks. Not bad considering I paid 4.27 for the 8 track when it came out. Is it really a shock when rock bands from the 70's screw around? I had lot's of women back in those days. It was extremely easy to get laid. And I was not that attractive. |

Bets back story – I lkie ABBA's. "Hej agnetha the divorce papers are through. Oh and we've a great new song for you to sing it's about a woman whose divorce has come through and she is the real loser and the man gets all the good breaks" (sounds of fiendish Swedish laughter) |
