I have a strange situation, which is probably due to some security setting I can't find, so suggestions are welcome.

I run several php-forums.

When I log in from my XP desktop, no prob.

When I try to log in from Mrs Gungnir's Vista laptop, the bluddy thing claims that name and/or password are wrong, which they are not.

I checked the security setting, it's on medium, just like the XP.

What am I doing wrong?

Could you be mis-striking keys on the laptop? The keyboard is smaller than on the desk top, and it can be awfully easy to over-reach a key. Is, perhaps, the caps lock on?

Thought of that, even clipped and pasted in the log in and password.

Vista is a flaming pile of poo.

That said, in my limited experience, the security settings seem to be spread out. It is possible that the firewall, for instance, is not allowing the security negotiations to happen. Do you allow SSL from the Laptop?

Truly, it sounds like maybe cookies are not enabled. But, then again, it is Vista. Anything is possible. Do you have anymore information? Log entries?

Hey, I'm a simple user, and even more so on Vista. Where could I find such stuff?

Something I found…

I don't use Vista so my skills are not much better than yours! grin

One more for you…enabling cookies in Vista…

Thanks, I'll give those two a go.

No joy.

Format and install Linux?

Sorry I can't be of more help. I'm not a Vista user. Those are the things I would have done off the top of my head. frown

That's okay, thanks for trying.

you could type out the password in the user space as a check, just in case you have the wrong key settings or something
