Anyone know the name of the song & where it's from?

Thanks

Wagner?

More info than three variant spellings might help in your quest

Black Cavalier24 Jul 2009 10:18 a.m. PST

No, sorry, not Wagner's Ride of the Valkyrie. There's something like a German Beer Hall song where the chorus is:

Valkyrie
Valkyrai
Valkyrah-hahahaha

I'm sure my spelling of the words is off, but that's the closest to what it sounds like.

I love to go a wandering!
Beneath the moon and stars!
But when I'm tired of wandering,
I go to topless bars!

Val da ri!
Val da rah!
Val da ri!
Val da rahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

Amusingly, that *almost* describes "Dragostea din tei", the song from a couple years ago better known as "The Numa Numa Song".

Black Cavalier24 Jul 2009 11:02 a.m. PST

Thanks all, that's the one.

& OFM, the scary thing is that I immediately recognized the "Tank you, dat a-nice" quote. Too many nights spent at my grandparents I guess.

In my case, too many nights listening to what my grandmother wanted to watch in our house: that, and Art Linkletter, and Perry Mason--later Ironside--and Kojak.

No wonder I'm warped.

The Happy Wanderer?

Darn you, OFM! Now I'm having flashbacks to sixth grade…

Originally written by Friedrich-Wilhelm Moller after World War I, The Happy Wanderer is one of Germany's most popular folk songs.

brrrr.. That's an entire bad dreams worth of childhood flashbacks. Toss in Arthur Godfrey on the radio and it's time to buy some brain scrub.

Allen you forgot Ed Sullivan! I really really really scares me that I am almost as old as you!

There was a "Muppet Show" segment where they did that song with mountain climbers. Spoiler alert;look out for that mountain goat. ;^)
