Argh!

For some reason unknown to me,
the address field in Safari has gone from a "field"
(a typable, copy & pasteable area)
to a solid silver line with non-highlightable, un-modifiable text

Anyone have a clue what happened, and how to fix it….?
I've looked through the preferences & 'help' folder, but: no joy!
It does not appear to be a "parental control" lockout…
(i'll also mention that the "google" field is gone, as well…)

(the address field is the area where your url is typed,
just in case I'm explaining it poorly;
i used to have a clear field where I could type an url,
and now I can only use pre-existing bookmarks…)

Help!!!

(Safari 3.0.4 in Mac OS 10.4.11)
