Hello folks,

I have used the scalecalc.exe program written by Frank Crenshaw for a couple years and have found it invaluable.

However, after having it sit open for about 15 minutes yesteday, my antivirus popped up a message that it contained a backdoor Trojan:
Backdoor.Win32.SdBot

This is one of those Trojans which allow someone to take control of your computer remotely.

I deleted it an tried downloading a new copy from one of the many scale modeling sites.

Each and every one I tried gave me a antivirus warning that it contained the same trojan.

So… Check your copy and does anyone know of another scale conversion/calculation program I might try?

It could be just your oversensitive Kaspersky's avp, Gorb.
After a complete system wipe, Mine is still convinced that my thumball driver is a keyboard logger.
I hope this is the case.

Well, I uploaded it to virustotal.com which scanned it with 41 different virus/malware detectors.

33 reported no problem with it, but 8 did, 7 of them specifically identifying the same trojan.

I had the same type of thing recently with ccleaner. I think the AV recognizes the updater as a virus
