Right now I have a desktop (actually a tower) PC and a wireless router. My wife's laptop works off the wireless router. We have plugged her laptop into the stereo system and we listen to internet radio, like WWOZ from New Orleans.

So, how do we get the cheapest possible replacement to play internet radio when my wife has her laptop elsewhere?

Are you looking for a device to replace the laptop when it is elsewhere or are you looking to somehow get the sound from your tower to the stereo.

If the first you may want to look at the various netbooks coming out. For between $250 USD and $300 USD you basically get an internet access appliance.

If the second it would depend on how far away the tower is. If the laptop was connecting with the standard 1/8" connector you can buy lengths of cables up to 50-100 feet long. Then it just depends on if you want cable showing on your walls or running under your carpet etc. There are also wireless solutions available but the good ones would run you as much as a netbook.

Plug from your PC sound card into the Stereo. Get a wireless card for the tower as well.

This looks like it. Basically I was wondering what the cheapest version of this is. Thanks.
