My wife just heard on the radio that he had died of heart failure. CNN is saying he has had a cardiac arrest. David S. |

It's just hitting the news all over. Expect to hear about nothing else for a while. Reports are rather fuzzy at the moment, though. Talk of "not breathing on arrival at the hospital" probably turned into "has died" on the way to the internet. Of course, I also wouldn't put it past his handlers to delay the news for as long as possible. Villainous bunch of leeches, by most accounts, and there is a huge amount of money riding on the comeback which will, now, not happen. |

maybe he believed in the Christian gospel that says ANYONE can be forgiven for their wrongs. a HUGE talent, who I would never have left alone in the same room with my little nephews |

The reporting about the reporting is more interesting at this point. Watching the flow of rumor vs news across the digital landscape, especially in a world-grabbing event like this, is fascinating. |

He has indeed passed away. A life of highs and lows, to be sure – a controversial figure, but whatever your views, a very very talented individual. RIP Michael. |

Just because he was mentally ill doesn't make him a child molester. People shouldn't dump their kids off with strangers anyways. I felt bad for the dude, all that money and never any peace. |

Just because he was mentally ill doesn't make him a child molester. Let's leave this topic for mourning; you can start a topic on the Blue Fez if you want to debate Michael's flaws. |

Almost 32 years ago, during summer vacation from middle school, I was parked in front of my tv watching a rerun of 'Emergency' when it was interrupted by a bulletin announcing the death of Elvis Presley. That night, some of the local stations played wall-to-wall Elvis songs, and the local and national tv stations reminisced about his life. For the weeks and months to come, it seemed like Elvis was the subject of most conversations. Today, tonight, tomorrow, and for quite a while, Michael Jackson will be the topic of interest. Good and bad, he left quite an impact on the world of music and pop culture, and like certain previous artists, he left too soon. It will be interesting to hear the expected speculation and theories on the cause of his death. Godspeed, Michael, and thank you very much. |

Are we CERTAIN he has not done an Elvis, and is now sunning himself on a Desert Atoll with a Long Cold one and a Cage full of teens? Bill, I don't think you will be able to keep any thread about this guy to Pat |

Now the question will be "Where were you when Michael Jackson died?" rather like it was when Kennedy was shot and Elvis died. Well I was just under two years short of being born when Kennedy was murdered, I was nearly 12 and at home asleep when I heard about Elvis dying and when MJ left us I was walking around Marston Moor battlefield with a wargaming friend who also happens to be a re enactor, followed by a few beers in the nearest pub. I should find that easy to remember! |
| Martin Rapier | 26 Jun 2009 5:17 a.m. PST |
Kennedy, I was just a little lad, so it has no particular memories for me. I do remember the bombed up Vulcans flying low over the house a fair bit in the early 60s though. Elvis, I was too busy looking for more safety pins to pay much attention. Jacko, watching Wimbledon. |

The circus has arrived in town. >>> "Michael Jackson's been an idol for me all my life," says Celine Dion. "It feels like when Kennedy died. It's an amazing loss." Dion, it should be noted, was not actually born yet when Kennedy was assassinated. link |

Are you SURE thats not a fake Dionism, like her 'wishing she could be thin like the ethiopians, just without all the flies and death and stuff' that was a famous fake? The poor Girl can't be THAT dumb, can she? Pat |

His pop tortured me for too many years at work over the PA: I could not escape: iirc, it was a Jackson tune that pushed me over the edge: I got on my desk and reached through the ceiling tiles and cut the wires, trying to kill the speaker over my work area. I cut the wrong wires

i cannot find it in myself to do anything but wish him peace
he was only a year older than i am, and now he will never get to grow any older; explore his art any more deeply; or change emotionally, psychically, or psychologically for the better. god rest his poor, talented, twisted, abused soul. at the end of time, even the devil gets to go back to heaven. |

On the morning of June the 25th 2009, Farrah Fawcett died of a long fight with cancer. When she went to Heaven she was asked, "Farrah I will grant you a last wish before entering the gates of Heaven." She thought about it for a few seconds and said. "I would like to wish that all the children of the world would be safe and protected from evil." Three hours later Michael Jackson died! And the Lord did smile. |
