Not only was he Johnny Carson's sidekick, but Jerry Lewis's as well, during the annual MDA Labor Day telethons. And during the Korean War, he flew 85 artillery spotting missions in a Cessna OE Bird Dog. He retired a full colonel in 1966. Pretty cool. Godspeed, Ed, and thank you very, very much for the great memories and your service to our country. I salute you, sir. |

He had quite a life. Flying fighters in WWII and observation planes in Korea to becoming one of the most beloved icons on TV. I agree Neo. Too many of our beloved childhood icons are leaving us. God Bless and Godspeed Ed. May we be worthy. link |
