Huh. For some reason I didn't think he was that old. I was never a huge fan of his books, but my Dad quite likes him. I'll have to pass the news on.

Wow! I too never thought he was that old… when I started reading his books in the 80's they seemed "young" and "fresh". The Belgariad is one of the few fantasy series I really liked.

Okay…this sucks! :( A lot of good hours reading his stuff…gonna be missed. Major loss to the genre

The Belgariad got me back into reading.
RIP, good sir…

WOW-I didn't think he was that old either-RIP Mr Eddings you made a positive difference.

I was into the Belgariad back in the day. It got stale, though, and contributed to my getting tired of fantasy. The Shannara books finished that genre off for me (glad Eddings didn't write those)….

bummer

Azantihighlightning05 Jun 2009 5:58 a.m. PST

I seem to recall the ending of the first series was very anti-climatic.

Alxbates05 Jun 2009 6:39 a.m. PST

That's a damn shame… I know that I've read some of his books, although I've never read the Belgeriad. I may have to track that series down and give it a look now.

The Belgariad, we somewhat refreshing. It was the Mallorean that killed it for me…

Greyalexis05 Jun 2009 12:47 p.m. PST

Dang it there goes another favorite for me. I am going to quit having favorite authors, they alwasys die on me.

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER06 Jun 2009 10:53 p.m. PST

I didn't know either. RIP sir.

NoLongerAMember07 Jun 2009 1:34 a.m. PST

Belgariad is fine, but I prefered Sparhawk. If he had a fault it was his tendency to write a story and then rewrite it even longer but not as fresh.

Still he will be missed.

I salute you Sir, and thank you for the entertainment.
