Well I think so, I think there's like 3 or 4 songs the made I didn't care for, Freddie is easly the best lead singer found. |

I think Queen ranks up there, Freddie Mercury had a tremendous voice who could move through all the ranges. My personal favorite band, the Travelling Wilburries and Genesis -- Both ad hoc bands so to speak of really great musicians and singers. |

There are others with much more impact. And no its certainly not the Beatles

Impossible to single out ONE band really isn't it? Queen would be on the shortlist along with Rolling Stones, Beatles, The Who, The Kinks, Sex Pistols, The Clash, New Order/Joy Division, Stone Roses
..just off the top of my head. I suspect the shortlist would rapidly turn into a looong-list! |

Queen would be be at the hed of my list or close to it. Helps to be one of the only really good bans I have seen live. I like a band that is distinctive. Ass soon as I hear Brian's guitar or Freddie's voice I know its them. |

I think there's like 3 or 4 songs the made I didn't care for
. I'll bet I can guess two of them, Gunfreak: The theme to 'Flash Gordon' and "Radio Gaga". Queen was greatness in their day, and their music still holds up so many years later. I'd put them in my personal top 30 bands of all time. |

The Greatest Band evah has to be the Beatles. Followed by the Rolling Stones. The greatest solo star evah was Elvis. Queen were certainly one of the greats though. All IMO of course. |

Beatles are ok, but you had Mcarthey Lennon doing all the work, the other two just sat on their asses and played now and then. I like some of their songs but nothing special, I like the stones better, but again you had two guys doing all the hard work. I queen you had a true colaberation, all four members had sevral hits. And they are the only band to come into song writers hall of fame as a group and not as induvidials Saginaw: you are right about Flash Gordon, but woring about radio gaga. The other two are inuedo and a beutifull day |

I thought this YouTube link might be one of the Queen songs you didn't like. x42 |

Gunfreak, you're being a bit unfair to George Harrison. Frank Sinatra once said 'Something' was his No1 Lennon/McCartney song, George took it gracefully. McCartney has produced nothing but dross since 'Band on the Run' and Lennon was disappearing up his own backside on an overdose of sentimentality once he went solo. George Martin deserves a lot of credit for imposing some discipline on the two of them. Back to Queen, best band I've ever seen live, Freddie could play an audience like another instrument. |

I just caught the 2nd half of Flash Gordon on TV today. Now I canīt get the theme song out of my head (this is like 8 hours later). Iīm not much into music but I like Queen. They have an immediately recognizable style. I think I am only able to identify 3 bands by their style: Queen, Beatles, Abba. Everyone else I have most often no clue. |

Naw, there's plenty of bands i can tell immediately. Motorhead. Sex pistols. Velvet Underground. Doors. Cypress Hill to name but a few. Hard to mistake any of them. I stick by the Beatles because i can't think of any other band who had as much influence as they did. |

Don't much care for Queen. Too much flash, gloss, 70s excess for my taste. Once you've heard Bohemian Rhapsody for the 74,000th time (as I did during the umpteen weeks it topped the British charts in 1976, was it?) it becomes utterly unbearable. But they did play well. Best band ever? The band so unpretentious (or possibly so sublimely aware of its stature) that it called itself The Band. Just put the load right on me. |

Hanna Montana? Jonas Brothers? nah

No. But a very good band. Stones and Beatles will be hard to beat (no pun intended). Think I might put the Doobie Brothers, Hendrix (no matter who he plays with), The Doors (Morrison), the Zombies put out great stuff -- just not enough of it; Jefferson Airplane; and my fav -- Steppin Wolf! mjc |

I have to say that Queen wouldn't make my top ten, although they did write a few memorable songs. The greatest rock & roll band ever are more likely the Rolling Stones. My personal top ten (based on iTunes plays) appear to be: The Clash Steely Dan Green Day The Eagles The Yeah Yeah Yeahs Arctic Monkeys David Bowie Fleetwood Mac John Lee Hooker The Ramones bit of an eclectic mix there! |
| Mardaddy | 19 May 2009 1:46 p.m. PST |
I may have you beat in the eclectic part
on my car CD player right now: Concrete Blonde John Lee Hooker Motorhead Neil Diamond Steve Miller Band Human League Souixsie & the Banshees Boz Scaggs I would not put ANY of them forth as, "one of the best of all time," unless it was JLH for Blues
