Just put in the CD after an hiatus of several months and once again impressed with the music. I first heard one of the tracks at my local comic book store while scouring for the latest Conan and asked for the album. After an internet search, I decided to find a copy of the Japanese release, for the two bonus tracks. Anyone else like this album?

Do you mean Nightfall? YouTube link

or Fellowship of the Rings?

Either one is great.

Thanks for bringing those to my attention.

"There are signs on the Ring
Which makes me feel so down…"

Wow.

Heavy, dude.

That rates right up there with the classics, like:

"Stonehenge! Where the demons dwell
Where the banshees live and they do live well"

Unlike Spinal Tap's tune, one can actually enjoy the music.

One did not.

More than one did, apparently.

Never mind the fact that good lyrics are hardly ever necessary for a song to be popular:

Do you mean Nightfall?

Yep, samples could be found below or on Amazon.com.

Is there an album for Lord of the Rings, like Nightfall's for The Silmarillion? Haven't found one through Google.

I actually liked Spinal Tap's tune…

Pity it's not a full song…

It's just not working for me, sorry. Oh sure, I had my Uriah Heep phase, but that was 30+ years ago.

And these guys just seem so completely derivative, taking "Demons & Wizards" for their "other" band name, for heaven's sake. Sheesh.

But for quality mindless lyrics, it's hard to beat their German buddies:

Not that there aren't excellent German bands, mind:

There's a lot of Great, Euro (and US) Melodic Metal…try these:

and the NWOBHM band that's continued to grow…

Look, I'm almost 55, Deep Purple and their extended family are still the greatest band ever and I have a huge record/CD catalog, but I've continued to move forward and onward…there is some great (Melodic) Heavy Metal out there that's begging to be listened to and played during wargaming…give it a listen to and a chance!

It's an acquired taste and I do like the Scoprions. At least it's not Grunge: the music of whiners.

Thanks Andrew Preziosi for the links, a few more albums to add to the collection. The Exoristoi video looked amateurish.laugh

No prob…I've got more recommendations if you want them.

Exorstoi grows on you, only because you have to get used to the singer…but they definitely kick into early Deep Purple/Rainbow meet early Manilla Road mode soon enough…good stuff.

Grunge is the whiny-est 'metal'…If you could call it metal.

For Melodic Metal, the latest Machine Head – The Blackening has some really melodic moments, along with some great headbanging.

What about the band Stradivarius? Thats pretty good…

How about Melodic music in general? I prefer James' Hey Ma…
