Nest week I am off to Kuala Lumpur for about 12 days. I will working the weekends and the evenings with the rest of the time free. (Yes, this is opposite to what normally happens.)

Any suggestions as to places to visit?
Any shops worth visiting?

KL was a great place to live but I'm not sure I'd like to visit.

You can visit Petronas towers if you are into looking at or out of very tall buildings.

The Bartu Caves are interesting if you like spectacular Hindu Temples build into spectacular natural cave formations. Warning: they do smell strongly of monkey ****.

Otherwise, the best thing about KL IMO is the food. Just try local eateries. The food is great and cheap. No point in splashing out at the international hotels. Laksa is wonderful and I don't usually like spicy food.

Shopping? The place is one big shopping mall and you can get the usual international stuff at good prices – but there is nothing special about it. Locally, traditional and antique Chinese furniture is a very good price (compared to Singapore anyway), but it is heavy and can be expensive to transport.

The water should be fine.

PS. There is no evidence the monkeys are typing Shakespeare.

K.L. is humid, noisy and anti-pedestrian.

I found little of interest to a wargamer, historianor modeller.

Beer was £5.00 GBP per pint.

Despite vowing not to go back, I am going back next week. Any suggestions what is worth doing in KL.
