link Thirty or forty years ago, this would've been a subject ripe for the underground comix. Seth Rogen? |

First? Stan must not read "The Authority" then. |
Wyatt the Odd | 14 Jan 2009 9:57 a.m. PST |
Hell, Stan must have completely missed Marvel's "Alpha Flight" comic as Northstar "came out" in the 1990's or so. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northstar Of course, then there's "Super Stupor" link Wyatt |

Heck, whatsisname from Alpha Flight has been gay for 20 years or so
|

oop, Wyatt beat me to it! |
| Jakar Nilson | 14 Jan 2009 10:19 a.m. PST |
Heck, gay (& lesbian) superheroes are dime a dozen these days. Besides, I'm surprised that Stan hasn't already created one, given that he "created" half the Marvel universe

Stan Lee needs to go away. His current reputation has been built at the expense of the true genius of Marvel Comics, Jack Kirby. 'Nuff said! |

According to currently accepted statistics shouldn't about 10% of superheroes be homosexual? |
| Parmenion | 14 Jan 2009 10:51 a.m. PST |
"World's first gay superhero", what a ridiculous claim
not even the first gay Marvel hero, as others have commented. And even if he was, is blatant tokenism really worth boasting about? The character's surname is Creed, I wonder if he's related to Sabertooth. Not that I read Marvel these days, I dropped the last couple of titles around the start of that latest Skrull rubbish. |

Fellas, we might have missed something here. I think the key words were "the world's first gay superhero in a new television programme". Unless there's one that's already been introduced on cable or something, I guess Mr. Lee could somewhat make that claim. Just caught that. |
| Parmenion | 14 Jan 2009 11:49 a.m. PST |
I just read that as meaning that the "new television programme" is where this "world's first gay super hero" is going to be unleashed, not that the news story was about the first gay super hero to appear on TV screens (which may be the case, I don't know). Whether it's Marvel, Stan Lee or the news reporter who decided to take that angle I don't know, but the story reads very much to me like this is supposed to be "the world's first gay super hero". |

From my reading of the item, I think that's the spin that the news reporter put on the story, not Marvel or Stan. |

I donīt think Lee created the character for Marvel. Most of his new stuff is for his own company. |

It is not known what kind of powers Creed will display. He will have the power to be Absolutely Fabulous. |
| Farstar | 14 Jan 2009 3:09 p.m. PST |
He'll have the power to get others unreasonably angry, pretty certain

Too true, Farstar, too true. |

He'll have the power to make up new "rights" that everyone else will be forced to adhere to, because another member of his team will have the power to create bureaucracies to administer them. Lawyer-man will have the power to pull future versions of himself into the present to sue the crap out of everyone who doesn't adhere to the new orthodoxy. Business-owner man will wonder why he just can't be left alone, to use his power to make widgets. He'll also wonder why he's the bad guy in the comic, instead of lawyer-man. |

As far as I know, the first Tranny Superhero(ine) hasn't shown his/her face yet, so that is still up for grabs. Someone should send a telegram to Mr. Lee. And a pie in the face too
. just for good measure. |

As far as I know, the first Tranny Superhero(ine) hasn't shown his/her face yet Are we not counting the hundreds of male heroes that wear tights? I actually do know of at least one genuine transvestite super hero, from the pages of Marshal Law (well, as genuine as you can get in a satirical anti-superhero comic). |

So what's Jack Harkness, chopped liver? |
| StarfuryXL5 | 16 Jan 2009 8:23 a.m. PST |
Transvestite – men wearing women's clothes. Transsexual – men converted into women (most only halfway -- check Google with Safe search off) Jack Harkness – Bisexual (well, omnisexual is probably more accurate) |

I find the idea of a Tranny super hero very funny. Is the issue with Northstar worth anything? I bought it and hid it away hoping it would pay for my student loans someday
