On one of the Yahoo! groups, I recently read:

I actually saw a guy drop casting (I think that's what it's called) Der Kreigspeiler AWI riflemen at a reenactment sutler's area and selling them as his own sculpts.

How common is this? What can be done about it?

"What can be done about it?"

If it's accurate, an infringement action could be filed against them with possible local unfair competition claims. A cease and desist letter would be the first step after an investigation.

Of course, that would assume that Der Kriegspielers (aka Custom Cast, aka Heritage) or its heirs and assigns were around to file those claims.

At the most basic level, the people who run the event should be told about the infringement and then they'd have to care.
