Have you had the misfortune of getting a whif of the new coke caps? It has to be the rubber gasket inside. I've done a search and there are lots of comments on the stink across the US. Its like an unwashed armpit. Anyone have any insight into this? Its it part of the manufacturing process or does the bottle QA staff just not bathe? |

QA = Quality Assurance. I can't smell anything, so I can't comment on this. But while we are complaining about the new caps
.. In their attempt to cut petrol related costs, like the amount of plastic used to make the caps, they have made them so small and smooth that I have difficulty opening them quite often. Of course, when you complain, they want the number from the bottom of the cap, the place where purchased, etc., etc., etc. I grew weary of the book keeping and now simply curse them under my breath and ask someone with stronger hands for some help. I'd carry a pair of pliers with me, but God knows I don't want to get nailed for carrying a weapon. Why, when I was young they had metal caps and all you needed to open them was good teeth! Hmmm, guess that would be a problem now too. Oh well, in the words of Emily Litella of SNL, 'Never mind.' |

Haven't bought a Coke in a long time. Haven't needed to clean battery connections lately. Allen |

Well, sounds funny but I had to go smell what all the fuss was about and the interior of the new Coke bottle cap I bought smelled like nothing but cola. It's damned hot here today so the beverage was refreshing! |

Well, as a quick net search and the link above shows, I am not the only one to note this. The smell is strong enough to linger on the bottle. I am sorry
I don't know how you ingest Coke (liquid variety)
but this end goes to my lips
which are fortunately near my nose. Unlike many gamers I bathe daily so at worst the caps would smell like Degree :) I wonder if its a set batch here in Atlanta or somesuch. If someone elsewhere could buy a Coke Zero and post the results I would be interested to know. I have 2 liters at home that do not have this issue. |

Doesn't smell like armpits, and still uses the reliable old-style bottle caps!
