Got a strange request here – I've got some barcodes that I'd like to read but I don't know what format they're in. Can anybody tell from the following sample? picture |

I'm not an expert in identifying barcodes, but it doesn't look much different from the code 39 stuff I work with. Presumeably you have a scanner? I use a wedge scanner (attached to my keyboard) as do most of the people I supervise. These are inexpensive (<$150 USD) and come with manuals that allow you to change the reading behaviour, ie, code 39, code 128 and others. You could fiddle fart around with one of these. -- Tim |

Not code 3 of 9, the start/stop bars are wrong. It is code 128 for "4095105" followed by nine spaces. Regards, the Gorb |

It could be EAN (or ISBN13) though looks slightly long for that |

Looks like it's code 128 using character set B Check this site link I deal with scanners and barcodes daily with my job. |

Thanks for the info – it was indeed Code 128. One additional problem was that the sample boxes I was scanning had bad stickers – they simply refused to scan. That barcode chart's quite useful. I was able to ID some other codes that we needed as well. |
